Michael Xavier Lundy is an accomplished pianist, organist and conductor.  He began studying music at the age of ten with lessons on the trumpet and the piano, and the organ in his teens.  His organ teachers include: David Schelat, Dr. Neil Harmon, the late Paul Richardson and Gregory Eaton.  His most influential teachers in conducting have been Dr. Joe C. Hocking and Sheila Cassidy.  He studied Music Education at Long Island University and Almeda University, later earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and the Master of Arts degree in Music, both with distinction.  On  Saturday, May 9, 2015 he was inducted into the Guild of Musicians and Singers (United Kingdom) as a Fellow at a full convocation of the Council of the Guild. 

 

A consummate organist, Mr. Lundy has performed solo recitals for chapters of both the American Theatre Organ Society and the American Guild of Organists.  Other performance venues include: the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA; the Broadway Theatre in Pitman, NJ; Symphony Hall in Newark, NJ; the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ; the historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in Brooklyn, NY (Long Island University – Brooklyn Campus) and John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, DE, home to world’s fourth largest theatre pipe organ.

 

Mr. Lundy has conducted choirs in performance at the historic Riverside Church of New York City and the Episcopal (Anglican) Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, NY by invitation.  He has also conducted choirs in the performance of concert masses, oratorios and cantatas.

 

As a collaborative musician, Mr. Lundy has performed with award winning choirs on the piano and organ for the Heritage Music Festival in San Francisco, CA; the Gateway Music Festival in Honolulu, HI; the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.; Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, and Music Fest at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. 

 

In the summer of 2014, Mr. Lundy was appointed Director of Music and Organist at Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Hockessin, Delaware.  Prior to this appointment he served as Organist and Choirmaster for the parish of Saint Martin de Porres at the churches of the Holy Rosary and Saint Peter Claver in Brooklyn, NY.  In addition, he also served on the faculty of the Saint Clare Catholic Academy in Rosedale (Queens), NY as Music Teacher and Master of the Choristers for the Schola Cantorum, the resident choir of the academy.  Mr. Lundy now resides in the suburb of Newark, Delware with his wife, Patricia and their four children.
